Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme (MLALADS)

Under the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme (MLALADS), it was started to get small capital works of local importance done. In the budget speech of the year 2004–05, the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme (MLALADS) was implemented in place of the Chhattisgarh Local Development Scheme. Under which work is done as per the provisions of Legislative Assembly Constituency Development Scheme Guidelines 2023. In the financial year 2022–23, the amount provisioned per Assembly constituency has been increased from Rs 2.00 crore to Rs 4.00 crore.

Under the scheme, MLAs will be able to recommend only small works of capital nature costing 74 percent of the total fund of Rs 400.00 lakh, i.e., Rs 296.00 lakh, in their Assembly Constituency, which can be completed in one or two seasons based on the recommendations made by the Assembly members. Priorities will be determined according to these guidelines.

If only one work is recommended in a year by a particular MLA, then the cost of this work will not exceed Rs 296.00 lakh. Under this scheme, works up to 25 percent of the total fund earmarked for each assembly constituency separately, i.e., up to Rs 100.00 lakh, will be approved by the Collector as per the guidelines after the approval of the Minister in-charge of the district for the same assembly constituency on the recommendation of the public representatives.

Under the Assembly Constituency Development Scheme, 9062 works worth a total of Rs 34255.55 lakh were sanctioned till the month of March 2024 in the financial year 2023–24, out of which 1815 works have been completed.
